When Looks Matter: The Right Shirt For Your Tuxedo
We all know that first appearances are what matters. Especially in business, first impressions are of the utmost importance. As a man, one of the best ways to guarantee a quality first impressions is by sporting a tuxedo. That being said, you must always make sure that it is worn with proper accessories, and that you choose the right dress shirt.
One thing that could mar your entire appearance is the shirt. A wrong shirt could easily spoil the entire show and also the image. Your shirt should compliment the jacket and not work against it.
More and more we are seeing pictures of the rich and famous in the newspapers wearing their tuxedo’s with an open neck shirt. This is certainly not how a tuxedo is supposed to be worn. The tuxedo is a formal garment and an open necked shirt is a very informal way of dressing. This image is often attempted by those wishing to appear young and hip.
It is not a Herculean task to match your shirt with your tuxedo. If you happen to be wearing a conventional tuxedo, all you need to do is to select some branded shirts to augment the overall look.
If you tuxedo happens to be plain, your shirt needn’t have any stripes or may be have very thin stripes, if it is for business purpose. If you are socializing, a patterned shirt could be tried. A shirt of light hues, such as, white, pale blue or light yellow could be matched with black tuxedo. Likewise, a light blue or pale green shirt could be matched with brown tuxedos.
A navy blue jacket would need a light pink or blue shirt to go with it. A pinstriped or patterned tuxedo would warrant a single solid colored shirt.
Thankfully, a little flexibility is permitted in your appearance while participating in a social function. But then, you must remember that your first appearance counts a lot. Hence, when the event is a formal one, you must strive to be very neatly turned and look elegant always. If you have not created the right impression at the start, you may have to start all over again to win admiration.
When it comes to business, you should be never hinder yourself and put yourself at a disadvantage that all stems from your look. If you fail to look your best, others will receive a wrong and sometimes negative impression of you, which is surely not the impression which you are trying to convey.
