The International Council For Accrediting Alternate And
Theological Studies has been involved as an NGO in informal
encouragement of theological studies in India since 1954.
In 2003 the Government of India approved it to function as a
government-registered and approved NGO. One of the
activities in which it is involved is as an Accrediting Agency
for Theological Studies.
Today ICAATS works with the help of an international
committee made up of experts in theological education drawn from around
the world. An involvement with ICAATS can help theological schools
worldwide to standardize their theological courses.
